Many ACC Cardiologists Honored throughout the years

President, Dr. William Bauman, has been recognized with a number of institutional and peer awards for more than two decades. He has been recognized in The Cleveland Magazine and by Akron's Life and Leisure Magazine as one of the best doctors in Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Bauman received the Best in Specialty Award and the Elite Patient Service Award from Summa Health System in 2005. He was awarded the American Heart Association's Pioneers in Cardiology Award at the 2005 American Heart Association's Heart Gala.

Cleveland Magazine named Dr. Richard Josephson as one of the Best Doctors in 2006 and 2007. NEOUCOM named Dr. Josephson as its Outstanding Faculty Member in 2001. He also appeared in the Akron's Life and Leisure Magazine as one of the best doctors in the greater Akron area for cardiovascular disease.

Summa Health System named Dr. Roger Chaffee as its Most Caring Physician in 2004. He has received awards for his excellence in teaching by residents and peers since 1987. Dr. Chaffee also received The Community Service Award in 2005 from the Summit County Medical Society for his exemplary contributions made to improve the health and welfare of the community.

Each year Summa residents vote on the doctor they feel contributed the most to their education. Dr. Michael Bage was voted Summa Health System Sub specialist of the year for 2006-2007. Summa had also honored Dr. Bage as the Most Caring Physician in 2005. In addition, Dr. Bage has received the Teacher of the Year Award by the Family Practice Residents at Barberton Citizens Hospital and the Best Teacher Award by Summa Health System.

Dr. Kenneth Berkovitz was the recipient of the 2005 and 2006 Elite Patient Service Award from Summa Health Systems. This is presented in recognition of physicians that are rated by their patients as providing elite service and are rated as providing better service than 90%of physicians nationally. Dr. Berkovitz was honored by the American Heart Association in 2007 with the Pioneer in Cardiology award.

Dr. Jason Smith received an Elite Patient Service Award from Summa Health Systems in 2005 for consistent praise by patients in a satisfaction survey.

Summa Health System recognized Dr. Otfried Niedermaier in 2004 for his superior patient satisfaction ranking over the previous three years.

Dr. Joseph Restivo was honored with the Barberton Citizens Hospital 2005 Physician Award for Risk Prevention by fellow peers and employees.
